Blazers battle Bulldogs for No. 2seeding

MANILA, Philippines - Saint Benilde and National University clash for the second seed of Group C in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup today at the San Juan Arena.

The CSB Blazers (3-2) are looking for a win that will installthem at second and relegate NU (4-1) to third by virtue of the the winner-over the-other rule.

Centro Esacolar University  remains firmly on top of the standings with six straight wins. 

At second the Blazers will avoid the top two seeded teams after the elimination round where all teams are ranked based on quotient.

The winner also avoids an early match up with CEU or undefeated Far Eastern University or San Beda College, which will also determine their own placing tomorrow.

CSB is relying on veterans Mark Romero, RJ Argamino, Luis Sinco, and Paolo Taha while NU is now led by Glenn Khobuntin, Alfred Aroga, Gelo Alolino, and Troy Rosario.

CSB and NU part ways at 4 p.m. In the other seniors match, the Phl Youth Under-18  team and Letran close out their pre-season game at 2:15 p.m.

In other matches, the San Beda Red Cubs and the Letran Squires conclude their elimination round campaign in the day’s curtain raiser at 9 a.m. San Sebastian Staglets take on the UST Tiger Cubs at 10:45 a.m. while the La Salle Greenhills Greenies battle the FEU-Fern Baby Tamaraws in the nightcap at 5:45 p.m. In the lone women’s division match, NU tangles with the UE Amazons at 12:30 p.m.

The quarterfinals start Monday.
