Philta holds program for top netters

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Tennis Association has come up with a unique two-stage training program aimed at upgrading the quality of the Filipino netters’ games and making them at par with their foreign counterparts.

The sessions are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Courts and open to members of the national team and developmental pool under the supervision of national coaches.

The project will also include the country’s leading junior players who will be trained by the national coaches.

The initial stage is a three-day tennis camp for top junior boys and girls aged 12, 14 and 16 on June 20, 21 and 22. Day 1 starts from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. with the next sessions set from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and 2 p.m.-4 p.m.. The final day witll be held from 8 a.m.-11 a.m.

The top four players in boys’ 12-years-old section are Michael Francis Eala II, Jose Antonio Tria, Mark Alfred Directo and Jose Angelo Aparte while Arthur Craig Pantino, Michael Francis Eala II, Benjamin Jake Martin and Marcus del Rosario head the 14-years-old category.

The 16-years-old bracket will include Alberto Lim Jr. Eric Olivarez Jr., Bryan de Casa and Jerome Romualdez.

Miles Alexandra Vitaliano, Averille Sacapano, Alexandra Eala and Jessica Mael Carcueva banner the girls’ 12-years-old cast while Rafaella Jean Villanueva, Chloe Mae Saraza, Carlyn Bless Guarde and Rachel Patricia Velez composed the 14-years-old division.

Khim Iglupas, Maia Bernadette Balce, Ma. Dominique Ong and Chrislyn Colleen Sioson make up the girls’ 16-years-old class.

The second part is the Philta/PSC three-day training program involving national players and members of developmental pool starting June 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, also at the Rizal Memorial courts.
