Athletes laud Doc Eufemio’s Fitness Quotient test
MANILA, Philippines - Basketball players Jeron Teng and Eman Monfort led all the athlete participants in the Fitness Quotient (FQ) Challenge Test organized by Dr. Edgar Michael Eufemio over the weekend at the Fishermall in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.
Teng, Monfort, Nikko Huelgas and Natasha Alquiros were among the 100 participants who underwent the 10-station tests that featured the vertical rope pull, box jump, suspension cable push up, balance board, horizontal rope pull, gang plank, sand bag throw, cone run, sit up shot and ball up, ball down.
“Fitness level test is important to athletes like me because you will know how fit you are and what needs to improve,†said Teng of UAAP champion La Salle. “I’m willing to sustain this fitness test because this is helpful.â€
“I really have no idea that there is a fitness test which is good to athletes like me,†said Monfort. “If you’ll ask me, I’m very much willing to try this and sustain this test because this is very helpful.â€
“The assessment is the first of its kind. There has never been a test that levels the playing field; every activity is adjusted to the participant’s height and weight,†said Eufemio.
All components of fitness – strength, explosiveness, speed, agility, flexibility, balance, coordination, endurance, recovery and mental – are measured by this unique 10-station exam,†added Eufemio.
“With this test, we’ll be able identify the best individuals much earlier and help them develop into world-class athletes,†he added. “I just hope this can help the Philippines become a sports power in my lifetime.â€
“Let’s test everybody. Let’s bring it down to the grassroots level. Better to start them while they’re young.â€
