First Gen-Juntaphil netfest tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s leading junior netters and rising stars brace for another busy summer as they slug it out for top honors in the 2014 First Gen-Juntaphil Metro Age Group Tennis Championships tomorrow at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Titles to be disputed in the week-long tournament, co-presented by First Gen Corp. and sponsored by Smart Communications, are the 10-unisex, the 12-, 14-, 16- and 18-and-under categories for boys and girls, according to the organizing Junior Tennis Association of the Phils. (Juntaphil), headed by Edward Puno.

Other events on tap in the tournament, sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) with Wilson as the official ball, are the 10-unisex, 14- and 18-and-under doubles for boys and girls.

The draw will be held at 12 noon tomorrow, also at the Philta office. Format is best-of-three regular sets.

Spicing up the tournament is the Boy Mendoza Cup, a non-ranking section sponsored by Smart featuring the 11- and 15-and-under classes for boys and girls.
