MANILA, Philippines - The Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) together with Bactidol, is hosting a campaign run for the stricter implementation of Executive Order 255 tomorrow at the G-Strip in Greenhills, San Juan City.
The race will be fired off at 5 a.m.
Dubbed Mission: EO 255, the event aims to raise awareness of and encourage the radio stations’ full adherence to former President Cory Aquino’s directive in 1987, requiring all radio stations with musical format programs to broadcast a minimum of four original Pilipino compositions for every hour.
“OPM aims to ensure the growth of the local music industry, thus it is very important that all radio stations implement EO 255,†said OPM president Ogie Alcasid.
The campaign run, a 5K race featuring the men’s and women’s divisions, also serves as a unity race for the Filipino artists’ rights and welfare.
The event is expected to draw OPM members, cultural workers, patrons and advocates and supporters of OPM.
Listup is ongoing with fee pegged at P650, inclusive of a race shirt, race bib and tokens/freebies. For details, contact OPM secretariat at (02) 631-1022/633-0640 (Belle of Dana), Team Ventures Secretariat at (02) 522-5953/400-9745 (Tricia Rana) or email opmsingers@gmail.com.
