Floyd Sr. insists Pacquiao ‘an easy fight’ for son

Dino Maragay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Despite the vulnerability shown by his son in his latest fight, Floyd Mayweather Sr. believes the undefeated fighter will still handily defeat Manny Pacquiao if they face off.

In an interview with Chris Robinson of hustleboss.com, the elder Mayweather stressed his son would still have a walk in the park against Pacquiao.

“That’s an easy fight. That’s nothing man. I’m telling you. You may not believe it, that’s an easy as fight,” Mayweather Sr. said.

The younger Mayweather survived a gritty challenge from Argentina’s Marcos Maidana last May 4, winning a majority decision to unify the WBC and WBA welterweight titles. From the opening bell, Maidana threw everything but the kitchen sink on Mayweather, leaving the latter little room to operate for most of the bout.

But Mayweather employed his technical skills to hack out the close win and stay unbeaten for the 46th straight time.

Pacquiao is also coming off a victory over Timothy Bradley last April 13, and the possibility that he’ll face Mayweather remains alive despite failed negotiations in the past.

But Mayweather Sr. insists Pacquiao still doesn’t stand a chance against his son.

“He’s not technical enough,” Mayweather Sr. said of the Filipino icon.

“You can say what you want to say and you can feel how you want to feel, but I’m telling you right now, Pacquiao would get his *ss tore up,” he ended.
