Portugal rules Circuit Showdown at BRC

MANILA, Philippines - Don Don Portugal posted the fastest time of the day, besting a field of over 75 participants during summer’s hottest month in  Round 3 of the BMC Air Filter Circuit Showdown at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas.

Portugal clocked 1:47.442 to top the elite Bracket A for cars driving under two minutes. He was followed by Eggy Ong and Ferdie Sia.

Portugal also took the top spot in Bracket R where he defeated veteran driver Carlos Anton (second) and Ong (third).

Dax Robles ruled Bracket B, with Levy Manio in second and Andrew de Asis third, 0.3 second separating the top five drivers in this class.

The top three winners in other brackets were Edwin Rodriguez, Mark Sy and Jun Cabrerra (Bracket C), Allen Macaraig, Marion Mendoza and Ryan de Lara (Bracket D), Patrick dela Rosa, Jem Querimit and Ton Ton Ramos (Bracket E), Michael Destura, Paola Lofamia and Dino Callado (Bracket F), Alan Santos, Arbie Jacinto and Thomas Bautista (Bracket G).

For the Toyota 86-Subaru BRZ Club class, Victor Buensuceso took the fastest GT 86 on track followed by Pauland Dumlao and Robles.

The grid races gave the viewers that extra shot of adrenaline and the racers in all classes were neck to neck across the grids.

Grid A gave Ferdie Sia a runaway victory in his white Evo 8, followed by Portugal’s teal Evo 7 and the lone NA Honda Civic EG of Ong in third.

For Grid B a true veteran to the podium this year found himself yet again in the lead. Edward Pujol finished first, followed closely by Michael Bryan Co and Trek Mendoza.

Grid C drivers proved that consistency was the key to winning the race. Marcus Timbol took home the gold, Eduardo Suiza the silver and Marion Mendoza the bronze.

The top three in Grid D were Paolo Lofamia, Walter Zamora and Pen Abueg.
