Badillo clinches title in Southwoods Seniors trimester golf

MANILA, Philippines - Mario Badillo fired a net 64 to edge former champion Butch Brodett by two and pocket the Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash golf tournament 2014 crown at the Southwoods’ Masters Courses in Carmona, Cavite last Tuesday.

Badillo, a 12 handicapper, turned in a superb gross score of four-over 76 to hold off Brodett, a 9-handicapper who carded a gross 75 for a net 66, and capture the Class A crown in the 18-hole tournament presented by Megafiber and Goutritis  and organized by the Southwoods’ Seniors Chapter headed by president-tournament chairman Francisco Gonzalez and vice president Rod Pepito.

Nick Molon, a 21 handicapper, shot a gross 82 for a net 61 as he took the Class B crown by three over Hisashi Momoto, who made a net 64 from a gross 77. Ed Guevarra snared the Class C plum by nipping Frank Basilio in the countback.

Guevarra, a 26 handicapper, carded a gross 91 for a net 65, the same output put in by Basilio, who shot a gross 94 .

Mentz Deguito (nearest the pin) and Raul Olea (longest drive) took the fun holes while lawyer Ike Sobrepeña won the major raffle prize of a 50-inch Toshiba LED TV during awards rites.

The event is backed by hole-in-one sponsors Yamaha by Kart Plaza and Wilson Sports and backed by Camp John Hay Coffee Services, Lydia’s Lechon, San Miguel Purefoods Company, Foodenizer, Inc. and Caramba Foods Corp.
