Furious Mark tweets: Kings too lazy, soft

MANILA, Philippines - Barangay Ginebra stalwart Mark Caguioa chided his teammates on his Twitter account a few hours after they hit the end of the road in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Tuesday night, eliminated on a ghastly rout by Talk n Text in their quarterfinal matchup.

Caguioa created a stir on social media after unloading a barrage of tweets hitting the attitude of the current Ginebra team.

“Dati rati kinakatakutan itong team nato at iniilagan pero ngayon lahat ng team gusto kami kalaban ksi mga tamad and sobrang lalambot (This team used to be feared and taken care of. Now, all the teams want to play us, knowing we’re lazy and soft),” Caguioa fired away.

“Parang ito na yung mga player ngayon na parang hindi nila alam ang history ng GINEBRA. I dnt think they knw ksi parang walang mga pake (Seemingly, these players don’t know the history of Ginebra. I don’t know if they know because they don’t care),” Caguioa also said.

Then he mentioned some of Ginebra’s players of yore, including player-coach Sonny Jaworski, Noli Locsin, Pido Jarencio, Bal David and Rudy Distrito. “Itong mga players nato makikipagpalitan talaga ng mukha,” he said.

“Wala ng ganitong players ngayon kung meron man hindi pinapalaro dahil nga parang nag popromote lang kami ng mga players ngayon,” Caguioa added.

Caguioa, the 2012 PBA MVP winner, said it’s not about the coaches.

“Let me tell u guys kahit si Phil Jackson mag coach sa ganitong team hindi pa rin papasok sa semis. Walang mga puso mag laro WALA WALA WALA!” said Caguioa.

Despite their star-studded and talent-laden lineup, the Kings barely made the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs with a 3-6 win-loss record.

Then they took a quick exit in the post-elims plays following an 84-97 mauling by the Tropang Texters Wednesday.

Ginebra has had the longest streak of playoff appearances in the league with 21 straight conferences. The Kings, however, have only made the finals four times and won the championship twice in this long stretch.
