Palami targets ‘fighting’ Maroons

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - After “resuscitating” Philippine football, Azkals boss Dan Palami will try to breathe life into the basketball program of UAAP doormat University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.

Palami came in as Maroons team manager with the hope of helping them make a huge turnaround like the Azkals did.

“I’m not promising a miracle, but I wanted to run the team’s management professionally,” Palami told reporters.

Palami took up accountancy and law at State U and didn’t think twice when his alma mater asked him to help bring its team out of the doldrums. – Olmin Leyba

“This is what I want for UP Maroons, to dream big and have the success that they wanted,” he said, noting the “parallelism with the Azkals when the job was offered to me.”

The Maroons have lingered at the bottom of the eight-team field for a long time, even finishing with a woeful 0-14 card thrice since 2007.
