Broner wants Manny – at any weight

MANILA, Philippines - American Adrien Broner is making sure that his name is first on the list if and when Manny Pacquiao looks for an opponent outside of the welterweight division.

Broner, who has won world titles in the super-featherweight, lightweight and welterweight class, carries a very impressive record of 27 wins and only one defeat.

The 24-year-old native of Cincinnati, a close friend of Floyd Mayweather Jr., has 22 knockout victories under his name, nine of them inside three rounds.

Broner took his first defeat against Marcos Maidana last December but instead of exercising his rematch clause he gave Maidana a crack at Mayweather on May 3.

On the same night, Broner will take on Carlos Molina, hoping to get back on the winning track. Once he’s done with Molina, it’s time to think of the bigger fights.

He’s thinking of Pacquiao.

“I’d fight him (Pacquiao) at any weight,” Broner, an occasional rapper, told www.boxingscene.com <http://www.boxingscene.com/> .

Pacquiao has fought mostly as a welterweight six years now but said is entertaining thoughts of moving back down to 140 where he feels he’ll be most comfortable.

Freddie Roach said the fact that Pacquiao has not stopped any opponent at 147 lb since 2009 could be a sign that he should slide back down to 140.

Broner said he’d fight Pacquiao at any weight.

“If I could make 115 to fight Pacquiao I will do it,” said Broner.

Pacquiao has much better options at 147. Of course, there’s Mayweather or Juan Manuel Marquez, Mike Alvarado or Maidana.

And at 140 there’s Ruslan Provodnikov although it’s unlikely at this time for Pacquiao to fight his former sparring partner.

That leaves Broner as a good choice.
