Undefeated PNP smothers MMDA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police rallied from 19 points down to beat MMDA, 75-61, and keep its unbeaten run at the start of the UNTV Cup Season II second round elims at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City last Sunday.

Julius Criste finished with 15 points and led the Respondents’ bristling 23-6 windup to turn back the Black Wolves and stretch their win run to five. Criste also had three assists and two rebounds.

It was a sorry loss for MMDA, which led by 19 points after the first period but struggled for just nine points in the last quarter. The Black Wolves slid to 2-3.

Earlier, the Malacañang Patriots edged the LGU Vanguards, 93-91, and improved to 4-1.

Paul Anthony Yamamoto scored 17 points, snared six rebounds and made three assists while coming through with timely baskets down the stretch.

LGU joined MMDA at 2-3.
