Tubod, Lanao del Norte , Philippines – Thirty-three Grassroots Development Officers (GDO) from all over the country and belonging to the Philippine Football Federation attended the second Grassroots Football Workshop April 1-5 at the Mindanao Civic Center sports complex here.
The workshop was facilitated by eight PFF officials and Masahiro Sugiyama of the Asian Football Confederation.
Activities for the five-day event included a festival football festival, grassroots planning and football skills development focusing on dribbling, passing, shooting and receiving.
The GDOs were also trained on how to deal with LGUs, NGOs and DepEd.
During the Football Festival, more than 500 elementary students from different schools in the province were taught the game of football.
The football workshop is in partnership with the provincial government of Lanao del Norte, AFC, Asian Football Development Project, Pagcor, Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, British Council, Milo and UMBRO.
The first Football Grassroots Workshop was held last 2011 in San Carlos City, Cebu.
“We are fortunate to have this workshop here in the province. This was made possible through the support of Gov. Khalid Dimaporo and first District Representative Imelda Dimaporo. I am happy that our young football players got the chance to be trained by national coaches,†said board member Harris Ali, also the president of the Iligan-Lanao del Norte Football Association.
The anticipated Regional Football Festival is scheduled at the MCC sports complex April 25-27. This is a joint activity of the provincial government of Lanao del Norte and PFF.
The 5-day football workshop is under the KASIBULAN Football Grassroots Development Program of PFF.
