Lofamia shines in Circuit Showdown

MANILA, Philippines - Paolo Lofamia ran the show before over 500 spectators and among a field of 108 as the  BMC Air Filter Showdown returned to the Clark International Speedway recently.

Less than a second separated Lofamia from Dave Tapia while Gerhart Santos checked in third in the second round of Circuit Showdown supported by BMC Air Filters, GT Radial Tires, Mitsu Lubricants Japan, Staging Lanes, A1 Advertising, Aguila Auto Glass, Rota Wheels, Richmond Auto Parts, Hans, Exedy performance clutches, Skunk 2 Racing, Spy Eye Wear, Foil A Car Manila, Aero Med, Brembo Brakes, Sabelt, Philgerma, Driven, Refresh, Walter Sound and Stage Lighting and C! Magazine.

Other 1-2-3  bracket winners were John Bandereado, Jose Moreno Jr. and Malfiel Ressureccion (Bracket F), Marcus Liwag, Elgene Elep and Moses Dumaguing (Bracket E), Jerico Tiu, Lesley Tuazon and Paul Cusi (Bracket D),  Mark Sy, Jun Cabrera and Iain Macdonald (Bracket C).

In the  fastest brackets, Michael Bryan Co took  Bracket B, running the best lap, with Ferdie Sia and Edward Pujol trailing with tenths of a second separating the top four drivers. Bracket A and Bracket R brought forth the same winners to the podium, with Carlos Anton in first, Eggy Ong in second and Don Don Portugal in third.

In the Toyota 86 /Subaru BRZ Club class, Victor Buensuceso had the fastest GT 86 on track followed by  Pauland Dumlao and Dax Robles.

The grid races were full of intense wheel-to-wheel racing action, with Grid C being plagued with breakouts. When all the penalties were given, Lesley Tuazon took home first followed by Jem Querimit and Walter Zamora. Grid D was no easy battlefield either, but when the race was done, Pen Abueg came out with the gold, Bonnie Gumarang the silver and Alfiel Ressureccion the bronze.

In Grid B, Gerard Loy was first and after a one place down penalty given to Edward Pujol for passing under yellow flags, Micheal Bryan Co was second and Pujol  third. Grid A found the veteran racer Don Don Portugal on top after some amazing dicing throughout the pack. Eggy Ong came in second and Miko Maristela third.

The BMC Air Filter Circuit Showdown continues with Round 3 at the Batangas Racing Circuit on May 3.
