Manny unfazed by tax woes, lauds Henares

LAS VEGAS – Manny Pacquiao is not worried with his taxes nor Saturday’s title fight with Timothy Bradley.

“I’m not hiding anything. We don’t want to hide anything,” said Pacquiao amid news back home that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is watching his every move.

Pacquiao said he’s paying the right taxes in the Philippines and the United States.

“Dito ba puwede ka makalusot? (Can you get away with it here?),” he said fielding a question thrown at him by TV5 reporter Chiqui Roa Puno.

Pacquiao faced tax woes in the Philippines and here in the US but has made it clear that everything is now going through the process.

He said BIR chief Kim Henares is just doing her job, and he doesn’t even feel he’s being singled out in the government’s relentless campaign against tax evaders.

“Okay naman yun at least tinutupad niya tungkulin niya sa trabaho (It’s okay because she’s just doing her job),” said Pacquiao.

“Saludo ako sa mga ginagawa niya. Wala ako tutol (I salute her. I have nothing against that). I agree and I support that because it helps our country,” Pacquiao added.

After the controversy broke out, Pacquiao had the chance to meet President Aquino, and that it was a very positive meeting.

Pacquiao said he has submitted the required documents to the BIR in a bid to clear his name.

“Nag-provide na tayo ng papers,” he said.
