Cortes, Llavore top Cebuana nat’l age group tennis

MANILA, Philippines - Brent Cortes and Janelle Carmela Llavore continued their winning ways as they pocketed two titles each in the seventh leg of the 2014 Cebuana Lhuillier National Age Group Tennis Championship Series in Marawi City recently.

Cortes, a native of Tubod, Lanao del Norte, duplicated his previous wins in Iligan City, as he ruled the 10-and-under unisex and 12-and-under boys’ categories, repeating over Prince Langitao from Mindanao State University, 4-1, 4-1, in the youngest age group and disposed of Surigao bet Rupert Tortal, 6-3, 6-4 in the 12-and-under class.

Llavore, who topped the 18-and-under in Iligan City, annexed the same title anew, beating Boro Marohombsar, 6-3, 6-2, then added the 16-and-under crown with a 6-1, 6-3 win over fellow Cagayan de Oro bet Gennifer Pagente.

Pagente, meanwhile, took the 14-and-under title with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Sarmah bantuas of Marawi City in the event backed by Dunlop Sport.

Other winners were Duma Hakim Boloto, who beat Clyde Casino, 6-4, 7-5, for the boys’ 14-and-under title and Carl Ubalde, who nipped Auden Aaron Paduganan, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5, for the boys’ 16-and-under plum.
