Cabrera named MHCS top athlete
MANILA, Philippines - Seaoil-DC karter and ART Grand Prix Asia driver Gabriel Tayao-Cabrera bagged top awards from Makati Hope Christian School and the Automobile Association of the Philippines for his achievements in karting.
The MHCS named Cabrera as the Most Outstanding Athlete of the Year for his karting feats during its Golden Star Awards where Makati’s top Filipino-Chinese school fetes its students who have given honor both to the community and the country in sports or academics.
The 14-year-old Tayao-Cabrera also emerged the lone double karting awardee at the Automobile Association of the Philippines’ Motorsports Awards, making him one of the few karting champions in AAP history who achieved the feat in a single season.
He received AAP awards as the overall Formula SL and ROK Junior champion.
Meanwhile, Tayao-Cabrera is set to compete in the opening leg of the Petron ROK Series’ ROK Junior category after winning KF 3 runner-up twice in the Petron Blaze 100 KF Series.
He is also scheduled to fly to Malaysia later this month to resume training with ART Grand Prix Asia in preparation for the Rotax Max Malaysia Series Leg 2 at Elite Speedway where hundreds of top-caliber Asian karters are slated to participate.
