New faces rule Cebuana age-group tennis

MANILA, Philippines - New faces emerged winners in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions at the recently concluded fifth leg of the 2014 Cebuana Lhuillier national Age Group Tennis Championship Series hosted by the BF Resort Tennis Club in Las Piñas.

Local bet Adrian Parangan came from behind to beat Jeremiah Macias 2-6, 6-4, 10-3 to take the boys’ 18 and under crown while Bacoor lass Cristy Sanoza was extended 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 by Rica Mae Ombe in the distaff side of the event backed by Dunlop Sport.

Another local player from Las Piñas, Carl Rodriguez, took the boys’ 16 and under title at the expense of Macias too, 6-2 , 6-3, Marianne Ferry from Dasmariñas, Cavite defeated Li-Jian Thean from Manila 6-2, 6-3 for the girls’ crown; EJ Geluz from Cavite made short work of Santino Vistan 6-3, 7-6 for the 14 and under boys’ title with Makati City’s Jackie Tan Ho an easy 6-0, 6-1 winner over Lourdes Pe of Manila.
