Mayor Del Cup slated at Valley

MANILA, Philippines - The Mayor Del De Guzman Golf Classic will be held April 11 at the Valley Golf Club’s South course with another big field expected to participate in the event staged as a fund-raiser for the Marikina Watershed Green Foundation, Inc.

Registration will start at 10 a.m. with the tee-off set at 12 noon.

Now on its fourth year, the tournament aims to generate funds for the Marikina Watershed through planting of trees and certain variety of coffee (Robusta Coffee) in the watershed area.

Marikina Watershed serves as the first line of defense against flooding and erosion during heavy downpour in the upstream particularly in the Sierra Madre area.

“I would like to express my gratitude to those who are joining, and would still like to encourage other golf enthusiasts to participate. The tournament is not just about golf, it’s all about saving low lying cities like Marikina and its neighboring towns and cities from the perennial problem of flooding which endangers lives and properties,” said De Guzman.

Fee is pegged at P1,500 for members of Valley Golf and Country Club and P2,500 for non-members. The event is organized by the Philippine Constructors Association-Marikina Chapter and the Rotary Club of Marikina and backed by Sta. Clara Construction and the Philippine Veterans Bank.
