Aguinaldo, Navy dominate jungolf interclub

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Aguinaldo 2 gave no breathing room to its overmatched rivals, rampaging to a 43-point win in Division I of the recent ICTSI Jungolf Interclub Golf Championships at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Rupert Zaragosa, Kristoffer Arevalo, Raymart Tolentino and Nikolo Gatmaytan posted scores of 159, 168 and 161, respectively, for a three-day aggregate of 488 that was too hot to handle for Valley 1 which finished way behind at 445 in the centerpiece division.

The Navy 1 team of Josh Jorge, Sean Granada, Jolo Magcalayo and Annyka Chanel Cayabyab claimed Division 2 of the tourney which has ICTSI as major sponsor and Martin Lorenzo, the Philippine Golf Foundation, Splendido, Crystal Catx, Inquirer Golf, Golf Depot and Pacsports as other sponsors.

Over at the Royale Tagaytay course, it was the TJGL-Navy dominating both team and individual classes.

Arevalo upstaged Zaragosa with the best performance among the individual winners.

Arevalo, the reigning Junior World 13-14 years winner, made 168 for an 11-point win over Luis Miguel Castro of Aguinaldo 1 in the same age-group with Alta Vista’s Wei Wei Gao placing third 13 points behind.

Zaragosa was pushed to the limit by Jelbert Gamolo of Pueblo de Oro before pulling off a one-point victory, 159-158.

Aguinaldo took two other individual awards through Bianca Pagdanganan in the girls 15-17 years and Harmie Constantino in the girls 11-12.

The girls 13-14 years plum went to Ashia Nocum of Valley 2 while Cayabyab was unchallenged in  the girls 9-10 years.

Javi Lazatin and Monique Arroyo claimed victories in the individual 7-8 years division while Miko Granada and Lia Duque were the champions in the 6 years and under category.
