Dagupan hosts Bangus Festival invit’l triathlon

MANILA, Philippines - Dagupan is hosting theTri-Bangus @ Dagupan Invitational Triathlon slated April 13  in celebration of its annual Bangus Festival.

A joint project of the Office of the  Mayor, the Pangasinan Triathlon Association, and the TBS Multisport Group, the race will be composed of a Sprint Distance (750M swim–20K bike–5K run) and Standard Distance (1.5K swim–40K bike–10K run) courses from the Bonuan Beach (swim phase), to A.B. Fernandez to De Venecia road (bike), and the heart of the city at A.B. Fernandez before ending at CSI Mall (run).

At stake is P67,000 in cash prizes for the top 3 male and female Elite Open finishers along with trophies for elite and top 3 male-female age-group winners, and medals for the top 3 male-female sprint distance and top 3 relay finishers.

Cash prizes will also be given to the top 3 age-group winners.

“The Bangus Festival got even grander with the first-ever Tri-Bangus Triathlon. Test your strength and endurance by swimming, biking and running towards huge prizes,” said Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez.

A race briefing will be held April 12 at the Mayor’s Pavilion at Bonuan Beach at 5.m., followed by carbo-loading dinner at 6:30 p.m.. Race packets may be claimed until 8 p.m.  A fun-run side event for kids age 6 to 12 will also be held.

Early bird fees for entries  received until April 1 are  P1,500 for sprint distance, P2,500 for standard distance and P4,500 for relay category. Each participant registered will get a race bib,  finisher’s medal, official race shirt, post-event brunch and event freebies.
