Pacman shakes off cold virus
MANILA, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao is back in action after catching the cold and skipping a couple of days of training at the Wild Card Gym.
It’s not the first time Pacquiao has caught the virus in training, and his chief trainer, Freddie Roach, said it’s no cause for alarm.
In an interview with ABS-CBN North America Bureau, Pacquiao said he’s back in the swing of things, just over three weeks before his rematch with Tim Bradley.
“Ayos na, nakabalik na tayo and then two days tayo hindi nakapag-training (It’s okay. We’re back after skipping two days of training),†he said.
Pacquiao, according to the report, caught the cold over the weekend, and was allowed by Roach to skip training last Monday and Tuesday.
“Maganda ‘yung condition natin. May sipon ng konti but in a few days siguro wala na,†said Pacquiao who’s out to regain the WBO welterweight title against the undefeated American.
Pacquiao is working so hard in training, and despite some delay, Roach said everything is in order.
“We’re a little bit ahead of schedule and we’re right back on schedule now. He still has a little bit of a chest cold but it’s common with Manny though because he has so many people that go to his house who want to bother him,†said the trainer.
Roach must have word that Pacquiao has been letting too many visitors inside his Los Angeles residence – day and night.
“I don’t know why these people feel like they need to see Manny or get him sick,†Roach was quoted as saying.
Pacquiao is wrapping up his training in LA and should leave for Las Vegas on the Monday of fight week.
The fight is set April 12 at the MGM Grand.
