Clark Open tournament unfolds Friday

MANILA, Philippines - The first Clark Golf Cup gets going Friday with a big field composed of businessmen and public officials seeing action at the Mimosa Golf and Country Club in the Clark Freeport, Pampanga.

Nine-year-old Junior Golf Foundation of the Phl champion Annyka Pineda-Cayabyab, Clark Development Corp. president/CEO Arthur Tugade, former CDC president Benny Ricafort, Wack Wack Golf and Country Club president Philip “Popoy” Juico and Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco will hit the ceremonial drives at 7:30 a.m.

Organized by the Capampangan in Media Inc. (CAMI) in cooperation with the CDC, the tournament offers hole-in-one prizes such as a Haima FStar-5 minivan from the Laus Group of Companies, a Piaggio Ape golf cart from Autohub, and other fabulous items. Top prizes will be raffled off during the awards rites.

Among the tournament’s Gold sponsors are the CDC, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Jose Cojuangco and Sons Organization, International Container Terminal Services Inc., TV5 Network, RII Builders, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., Oishi and Megafiber Corp.

Casino Filipino Mimosa Clark and Pag-Ibig Fund lead the Silver sponsors that include Cherrylume and Sumo GI Sheets, San Miguel Corp., Unilever Phils., Clark International Airport Corp., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and Stradcom Corp.

The tournament aims to raise funds for CAMI socio-civic, cultural and educational projects, including competence-upgrading seminars for young journalists, campus writers, and communication personnel in media-allied fields.

CAMI is a nine-year-old non-profit national organization of active and retired media professionals with roots in Pampanga.
