MANILA, Philippines - San Beda College-Alabang turned back Philippine Women’s University, 25-16, 20-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-7, to bag the college division crown in the WCSA women’s volleyball at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum last Sunday.
The win actually capped the Alabang-based Lady Red Spikers’ sweep of the best-of-three championship series, 2-0, as they closed out the season undefeated in nine matches.
Eula Ugalde took the MVP plum.
San Beda used a solid net defense and steady service to rally from a 1-2 set deficit and force the decider with the Lady Red Spikers pouncing on the Lady Patriots’ miscues to seize control.
Ugalde also bagged the best receiver plum, while teammates Jem Fagara, and Charlene Salazar copped the best blocker and best server awards, respectively.
