YRM golf fund-raiser up at Wack Wack

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Yellow Ribbon Movement and Wack Wack Golf and Country Club will stage the second YRM golf tournament at Wack Wack’s West course on March 27 with proceeds to go to charities.

“This fund-raiser will benefit those who lost their source of income due to calamities,” said Wack Wack president Philip Ella Juico.

YRM chairman Raqui Garcia said the group also plans to actively engage in projects that can open up opportunities for regaining the livelihood of the Filipinos whose incomes were lost or adversely affected by disasters.

In fact, Garcia said YRM is developing a program called “Dagdag Karunungan, Dagdag Kabuhayan” which aims to provide those who missed or could not afford formal schooling to get skills training in order for them to gain access to decent and lawful living.

The first YRM golf tournament in 2012 raised funds for the victims of fires, typhoons, floods and earthquakes. Part of the proceeds also went to feed the homeless through the Midnight Manna project and at the same time provided tutoring services to grade school children in poor communities, donated two classrooms to the Benigno Aquino Jr. Elementary School in Quezon City and boats to fishermen displaced by typhoon Yolanda.
