Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -- Global battled Green Archers United-Globe to a scoreless draw to move to solo second place, just a win behind current leader Loyola Meralco Sparks in the First Division of the United Football League at the Emperador Stadium Saturday night.

The stars of the day were goalkeepers Roland Sadia of Global and Patrick Deyto of GAU-Globe with the former saving a penalty and the latter making spectacular stops to salvage a standoff.

The draw pushed Global, a team managed by Phl Azkals team manager Dan Palami, at solo No. 2 with 16 points on five victories and a draw against a defeat while sent the Archers to No. 5 with seven points.

Loyola leads the League with 19 points.

Global appeared to have scored a goal and seized the lead but Misagh Bahadoran's goal late in the first half was disallowed for the handball before the final touch.

GAU also had its share of golden chances with Gabriel Olowoyeye's goal attempt on the second minute was saved by Global's youtful defender Amani Aguinaldo and Jesse Martindale's penalty misfired.

Pasargad edged Pachanga Diliman PLDT Fibr, 2-1, to improve to seven points, which was good for No. 6.
In second division action, Ceres-La Salle dumped Manila All-Japan, 2-0, and Dolphins United trounced Navy, 3-2.
