Golden Wheel Awards fetes best in motorsports

MANILA, Philippines - The 2014 Golden Wheel Awards Night will be held Feb. 28 with the top achievers in Philippine motorsports last year to be feted in elaborate rites at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Fort Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

Johnlery Enriquez (scooters), Niño Fabian (underbone racing), Dashi Watanabe (superbikes) and Glenn Aguilar (motocross) head the race for the coveted Golden Wheel Driver of the Year award that also includes Daniel Miranda (karting), Gio Rodriguez (drifting), Peewee Mendiola, MD (slalom), Edison Dungca (4x4 off road), Bryan Bautista (classic cars), Jody Coseteng (grand touring) and Jonathan Tiu (drag racing).

Two Singaporeans will also receive Golden Wheel trophies for their impressive feats in the 2013 Asian Karting Open Championship Series, including Gabriella Teo who copped the Asian Karting Junior crown and Mohammad Nasri Naufal Bin Nasir, who clinched the Asian Karting overall title.

The organizing Golden Wheel Foundation Inc. has formed an independent panel of judges composed of top racing officials and media to select the most deserving recipient of this year’s plum.

With the theme “Geared Towards Progress, Growth and Maturity” this year, the Golden Wheel Awards has gathered the best and the brightest stars in Philippine motorsports.

Last year, champion karter Vencer John Suba bagged the Golden Wheel Driver of the Year.
