Jungolf world champ heads DHL Am

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The WWWExpress Amateur Golf championship holds its 19th staging on Feb. 18 with the core of the Del Monte team in the PAL Interclub leading the early roster of entries in the event to be held in honor of the late Rod Feliciano at Canlubang’s North course in Laguna.

Reigning world 13-14 junior champion Kristopher Arevalo has also confirmed participation in one of the country’s most prestigious amateur events, also known as the DHL Amateur Championship which Feliciano institutionalized.

Feliciano, who also served as the NGAP president from 2000 to 2004 before becoming its honorary chairman, passed away last year.  He dedicated a lot of his time and resources into helping Philippine golf, including this event.

Mel Cubillo and Magno Arancon, products of Del Monte’s grassroots development program, lead four six other bets coming from the Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon layout which produced the eminent Frankie Miñoza.

The event is organized by the National Golf Association of the Philippines and presented by the MVP Sports Foundation as part of the PLDT Group Amateur tour.

Registration is ongoing at the National Golf Association of the Philippines office at 7065926, 9250022 or at Canlubang at (049) 5491363, (049) 5497202.

Meanwhile, the NGAP will be hosting a rules seminar to be conducted by the Royal and Ancient of Scotland on March 15 and 16 at the post Alabang Golf Club in Muntilupa.
