LSGH bags outright title berth, semis

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Green Hills jumped straight to the finals in two divisions, leaving the other teams to battle for the remaining championship berths this weekend in the Growee-Mini-Youth Ball (MYBall) Metro Invitationals.

The Greenies impressively completed a 7-0 sweep of the eliminations both in the Contender (12-14 age group) and Mini (9-11 age group) divisions to claim outright title slots and twice-to-beat incentives.

As the Greenies stayed on track of another double championship, the other qualifiers clash in a stepladder semifinals starting today at the LSGH Gym.

Third-ranked National University (5-2) tackles No. 4 Don Bosco Technical Institute (3-4) at 11 a.m.,  with the winner advancing against the second-seeded Ateneo-A (6-1) at 3:50 p.m. tomorrow in  Contender action.

In the Mini division, No. 2 Marist (6-1) will wait for the winner of the knockout duel between third-ranked Ateneo-A (4-3) and No. 4 Lourdes School of Mandaluyong (4-3) at 9 a.m. today

A father-and-son two-ball shootout will also be played this weekend as a side event of the tournament backed by Growee, the nutritional supplement that  aims to promote character building and youth sports development.

Now on its sixth season, MY Ball pitted a total of 16 teams in two divisions, including some of the top schools from the UAAP and NCAA.
