Ex-Pacquiao foe Shane Mosley in town to help ‘Yolanda’ victims

Dino Maragay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Shane Mosley, a former world champion in multiple divisions who once faced Manny Pacquiao, arrived in Manila Tuesday to help raise funds for victims of typhoon “Yolanda”.

STAR columnist Quinito Henson reports that Mosley arrived Tuesday morning with his lawyer Sydney Hall and manager Germaine Gillies and is currently staying at a hotel in Makati City.

Mosley himself tweeted about the warm reception he received upon landing in Manila.

UK promoter Dennis Hobson will reportedly plane in Tuesday night to join Mosley, fueling talks that the boxer might also be scouting for talents in the country.

Popularly known as “Sugar,” Mosley, 42, fought Pacquiao in 2011 and lost via a lopsided decision. He has held titles at lightweight, welterweight and light middleweight.

Mosley’s Manila trip is aimed at raising funds for the typhoon victims through the United Boxing Relief Funds. Reports also indicate that Mosley is in talks with a major television network for a still undetermined project.

The American boxer last fought in Australia last November, quitting on his stool after the sixth round of his bout with Antony Mundine for the vacant WBA International light middleweight title. He claimed to have suffered a lower back injury.
