World Slasher resumes today

MANILA, Philippines - Hostilities continue at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for Day Two of the 2014 World Slasher Cup 8-Cock Invitational Derby.

A total of 122 entries will see action starting at 10 a.m., while another set of  130 more bets face off in tomorrow’s last day of preliminaries.

A star-studded opening salvo ushered in action yesterday, with Charlie “Atong” Ang fielding six entries, Gov. Eddie Bong Plaza and Cong. Patrick Antonio four apiece, and Engr. Tony Marfori, Joey delos Santos and the Whamy team of Edwin, E. Yap/M. Tam three each.

Hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions, the Year of the Horse chapter of the Slasher is sponsored by Thunderbird Bexan XP, Sagupaan Complexor 3000, BMEG Integra, SupremoGamefowl Feeds and Petron.

The 2-cock semifinals rumble blasts off Jan. 23-25 with the 4-cock finals slated Jan. 27 for entries with 2, 2.5 or 3 points and Jan. 28 for those with accumulated scores 3.5 or 4 points.

Defending champion Dicky Lim started his campaign via the El Nido entry as the three-time victor of the Slasher guns for his fourth crown .

A powerhouse American contingent that includes Ray Alexander of Alabama, Wilbert LeBlanc, Richard Harris and Charles Tetlow of Louisiana; Randy Hall of Texas, Mike Formosa, Butch Cambra and Kini Kaiwaaia of Hawaii; Roger Roberts, Skinny Joel with his Mel Simms fighters, Keith Cargill and Richard Wilburn, are also in the roster together with the Canadian team led by Richard McCormick.
