No sibling rivalry as Thirdy Ravena joins older bro Kiefer at Ateneo

Olmin Leyba - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Instead of doing their version of the Teng vs Teng rivalry that highlighted the Finals of UAAP Season 76 between Jeron's La Salle and Jeric's Santo Tomas, brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena will try to write their own story as they joined forces under the Ateneo banner starting next season.

"There's no need for another sibling rivalry. They (Teng brothers) made history as rivals, time to make one our own as teammates," Blue Eagles star Kiefer posted on Twitter as he welcomed kid bro Thirdy into the AdMU seniors squad.

Ateneo Eaglet ace Thirdy, MVP of the Season 76 juniors competitions, decided to remain with the Katipunan-based team for college, thereby joining his kuya Kiefer in the Blue Eagles team.

According to Fiba world 3 on 3 veteran Thirdy, this will be the first time for him and Kiefer to be teammates.

With this, Thirdy also spared the family from having to split cheering chores when they take the court, unlike what the Tengs experienced when Jeron's Green Archers battled and eventually defeated the Tigers' crew of his kuya Jeric.

"(It's) My dream (to see them play together)," their father, Bong Ravena, told the STAR. "Kahit isang champion lang sana (Hope they win at least one championship together)."

Kiefer and Thirdy will join other sibling acts in collegiate play such as the Lago brothers Dwight and Elmer for La Salle in the 1990s and the Semerad twins Anthony and David with NCAA kingpin San Beda.
