SSC to stage Stags Charity Run at Aseana

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila will hold the Stags Charity Run on Jan. 12, 2014 at the Aseana in Parañaque with over 4,000 runners expected to participate in the event held to raise funds for various charitable missions.

Registration starts next week with fee pegged at P500, inclusive of bib number and singlet. Events on tap are the 3k, 5k and 10k races which fire off at 6 a.m.

The annual Stags Run serves as one of the highlights of SSC-R Manila’s 73rd foundation celebrations slated Jan. 12-20, 2014 on a theme “Greatness Awaits One Who Recollects.”

This marks the fourth straight year that SSC-Recoletos Manila is putting up a charity run in its continuing effort to generate funds and awareness on sharing for fellow Filipinos who are devastated physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially and financially.

It kicked off with the Takbo Para sa Misyon in 2011 with proceeds supporting the missionary works of the Order of Augustinian Recollects (OAR) in Sierra Leone, Africa and in the Cascian Island in Palawan through media evangelization and educational apostolate.

It staged the Takbo Para sa Edu-Misyon in 2012 for its educational mission and various outreach programs while the Takbo Para sa Bokasyon was held this year to raise funds for the support of vocations to the priestly and religious life in the OAR.

“We intend to match, if not surpass, the more than 4,000 participants who took part this year. This way, we would be able to sustain the implementation of our pastoral ministry and mission in the provinces,” said Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, and the event’s overall chairman.
