Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight contender Mark Munoz has joined hands with the Filipino-American community as well as the world in helping survivors of super Typhoon Yolanda by holding a fundraiser in the United States early next year.

Munoz, known as “The Filipino Wrecking Machine,” pledged to donate all the proceeds of the Mark Munoz Wrestling Seminar dubbed as a “Fundraiser for Typhoon Yolanda” on January 11, 2014 at 401 California Ave., San Francisco in California.

“The talk about super typhoon Yolanda in the media has decreased, but the rebuilding efforts in the Visayas is ongoing,” said Munoz on his official website markmunozmma.com Friday.

“This holiday season I am giving all the proceeds of my Jan 11 MMA Wrestling seminar and event shirt to Typhoon Yolanda survivors.

“Like me, you too can help families in the Philippines rebuild,” he added.

The site indicated that the MMA wrestling seminar is set from 9 to 11 a.m., which is worth $80, while the wrestling (K-college) session is from 1 to 4 p.m., which will cost participants $40.

The packages will come with a free autograph and photo opportunity.

The one-day charity event is being supported by Lunarpages, Xyience, Pop Chips, Musclemaker Grill, Treasure Island Event Venue, Reign Training Center, Giographix and Team Munoz.

Munoz joined several popular Fil-Am sports personalities including Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra that have lent a helping hands to victims of the catastrophe.

Munoz, who has also conducted clinics in the country a couple of times now, is hoping to bounce back from his recent loss in his quest to become the first Filipino champion in the UFC, the most popular fight outfit in the world.
