Lady Patriots sweep Mariners in NCRAA volley
MANILA, Philippines - La Salle-Dasmariñas dominated Philippine Merchant Marine School in the opening set then held on to complete a straight-set 25-7, 25-23, 25-22 victory in the 21st National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) volleyball tournament at the Olivarez College Sports Complex in Sucat yesterday.
With sophomore Maribeth Lara providing the firepower and leadership, the Lady Patriots rolled past the Lady Mariners to post their second straight win.
Giselle Bembo, Mariel Desengano and Iumi Yongco then joined the 19-year-old Lara to steer the Lady Patriots past the gritty Mariners in the next two sets.
The Lady Patriots earlier held off the Rizal Technological U Lady Thunder, 27-25, 13-25, 25-19, 25-23.
In men’s action, RTU bounced back from a loss to La Salle-Dasma with a 25-8, 25-9, 25-9 rout of Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite.
Olivarez College, meanwhile, beat PMMS, 16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 31-29, in the other contest.
