Hog’s Breath, Big Chill out to pull away

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - League leaders Big Chill and Hog’s Breath take on separate rivals today, both trying to pull away from the pack and zero in on the two outright semifinal berths in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Trinity University of Asia gym in QC.

While the Superchargers are seeking their third straight win and ninth overall against a loss when they go up against Zambales M-Builders at 2 p.m., the Razorbacks are out to rebound from a stinging setback to the new leaders that snapped their seven-game win run when they face the Café France side at 4 p.m.

“This is a huge break for us. But we have to do our part and that is to try to win our remaining games,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison after his wards stopped the Razorbacks, 87-70, last Friday.

The Superchargers should easily impose their will against the Builders, who have lost five straight that effectively booted them out of the playoff race with a woeful 2-6 card.

But Sison cautioned his Superchargers for complacency, saying: “They are itching to bounce back so we can’t take them lightly.”

Café France, meanwhile, has won its last three matches capped by a lopsided 64-48 victory over Wangs Basketball. But a fourth straight win won’t be easy picking as the Razorbacks are raring to get back on the track and stay in the hunt for an outright semifinal berth.

The Bakers are out of the race for an outright semis seat but they are still in contention for quarterfinal berth.
