Anotado lifts UST booters past Warriors

MANILA, Philippines - Substitute Steven Anotado scored on stoppage time as University of Santo Tomas edged University of the East, 2-1, yesterday to move to solo third in UAAP Season 76 men’s football tournament at the Far Eastern University (FEU) Diliman pitch.

A Marvin Bricenio cross gave Anotado the chance to score the clincher with the latter beating the Red Warriors goalkeeper Lendon Clores to the ball.

Anotado scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute.

UE sorely missed the services of veteran Fitch Arboleda, who decided to rest his hamstring for the tougher games ahead in the second round.

Meanwhile, Ateneo takes on Adamson in a clash of best defensive teams, while UST battles UE today in women’s volleyball at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

 The Lady Eagles and the Lady Falcons take on the floor at 4 p.m, right after the Tigresses-Lady Warriors match at 2 p.m.
