MANILA, Philippines - Jake Yagonia hit two pressure-packed free throws in the last 17 seconds as Philippine Merchant Marine School squeaked past La Salle-Dasmariñas, 78-76, yesterday for its second straight win in the 21st National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) basketball tournament at the Rizal Technological University gym in Mandaluyong City.

Dan Reverente fired 19 points in a big follow-up to his 26-point splurge in powering the Mariners past the RTU Blue Thunder, 62-49, last Monday although it was Yagonia who shone at endgame.

Jerome Juanico shot 21 points for La Salle-Dasmarinas, which tied the game at 76 in the last 17 seconds.

The Mariners will gun for their third straight triumph when they play the Philippine School of Business Administration Jaguars tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the RTU Blue Thunder drew 16 points from Jopet Quiro as they smothered the PSBA Jaguars, 73-54, for a 1-1 card.

The Blue Thunder trailed at 47-48 but held the Jaguars to just six points in the last period while pouring in 26 points of their own.
