BCC thwarts Rural Bankers, bags Fil-A plum
BAGUIO , Philippines – Baguio Country Club closed out with a 115 to hold off a rallying Rural Bankers I side and fashion out a five-point victory in the Fil-A division of the 64th San Miguel Fil-Am Men’s Golf Invitational at the Camp John Hay Golf Club here over the weekend.
Goodie Ignacio fired 35 Molave points to spearhead BCC’s final round charge. Bong Mandapat scored a 29, Ely Lagman made a 26 and Euls Austin added a 25 for that 115 and a 425 aggregate.
Rural Bankers I finished with a 420 after a 121 with Vincent Gumapac churning out 33 points and Karloz Alba and Jose Saavedra chipping in 30 markers each and Leo Fusilero adding a 28.
Eagle Masters I assembled a 105 and finished third with a 411 as Roderick Lo shot 31 points and Eugene Martin, Noe Taojo and Lito Dublan added 27, 24 and 23, respectively.
Over at the nearby BCC layout, Isabela Golf Club struggled with 91 markers for a 395 total and likewise survived the late rally by the Mizuno All Stars to clinch the Am-A division title in the event backed by title sponsor San Miguel Corp. and presented by Toyota.
