AMA Titans shock Doves in UCLAA

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - AMA Computer University crushed defending champion St. Francis of Assisi College, 79-70, in a big reversal of the sixth  Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (UCLAA) basketball tournament at the San Andres gym in Malate.

The Titans of coach Mark Herrera used several strong scoring runs in the second and third quarters to subdue the Doves.

Colegio de San Lorenzo and Philippine College of Criminology pulled off similar smashing victories to keep a share of the lead.

CdSL routed Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, 70-57, while PCCr overwhelmed St. Dominic Savio College, 107-78.

The Bonnie Garcia-mentored Griffins, who are hoping to improve their runner-up finish last year, drew balanced firepower from six mainstays to roll back PLM.

The Panthers also received double-digit scores from key players and led from start to finish to secure their third straight win.

In the only junior match, the AMA Jr. Titans, also under  Herrera, the five-peat champion coach of Talk N Text in the Batang PBA, humbled National College of Business and Arts, 67-57.
