Anton sets sights on PTCC crown

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama Champion driver Carlos Anton sets his eyes on the Overall crown as he gets ready for the final four rounds in the final leg of the 2013 Philippine Touring Car Championship (PTCC) slated Dec. 7-8 at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

The Baguio-native and multi-titled racing champ wrested the overall leadership with a slim nine-point margin after sweeping all four races in the second leg held at Clark International Speedway through the support of Ethanworx, Yokohama, Castrol, Viewpark Hotel, ASR, Buddyclub suspensions, Cars Unlimited, Hornitex, Autoshack, Maxspeed and Special Stage.

“We are coming into the finals with just a nine-point lead so anything is possible during the final four races.  Joey Perry, the 2010 champion, is too close for comfort at this stage while reigning titlist William Tan and Milo Rivera will surely be going for wins so it is anybody’s ballgame right now.  The most we can do is to really prepare the best we can for the races and pray to God for the victory!” Anton said.

Anton will be using the Ethanworx-Hornitex Honda FD of Jon Mark Ong’s team and after winning five of the last eight races, Ong is confident his car will be a match for Anton’s skills.

“The team has worked very hard for this and we have left no stone unturned for the final races.  It is the rookie year of the team in the PTCC 200 championship and it would be great to win it first time out” Ong said.

Anton is a mainstay at the Mark Young Racing Team for the Time Attack races and Hillclimb Championships but decided late this year to also join Ethanworx Racing for the PTCC races.
