UST vs Letran; NU duels FEU for last semis seat

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Four teams, which ended their respective collegiate seasons in disappointment, shoot for redemption in the resumption of the Champions League (PCCL) 2013 National Collegiate Championship Sweet 16 stepladder games on Monday at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.

UAAP runner-up University of Santo Tomas and NCAA second placer Letran clash in the main game at 4 p.m.

In the first game at 2 p.m., National University and Far Eastern University collide after knocking out University of the East and San Sebastian College, respectively.

The winners of both games will clash on Dec. 3 also at Ynares Arena for the last available Final 4 slot. La Salle, San Beda and Southwestern University have earlier advanced to the semifinals.

All games are aired live by ABS-CBN channel Studio 23 starting at 2 p.m.-6 p.m.

“We will take this one game at a time, we have to focus on defense since (Emmanuel) Mbe is not with us,” said NU coach Eric Altamirano moments after the Bulldogs’ swarming defense pulled them past the UE Red Warriors.

Bobby Ray Parks is expected to lead the Bulldogs’ charge anew, fresh from a double-double performance against UE last Thursday.

UST will play minus 2012 PCCL MVP Jeric Teng, but can still count on Karim Abdul, Kevin Ferrer and Aljon Mariano.

The Champions League (PCCL) 2013 Collegiate Championship is sponsored by Phoenix Petroleum Phils, Molten Balls, FilOil Flying V, Focaccia, Fog City and media partners, ABS-CBN Sports and The Philippine Star.
