Hobe outlasts Skyforce, retains DELeague crown

MANILA, Philippines - Hobe Bihon wore down Skyforce in overtime as it carved out a 97-94 decision to retain the crown in the third DELeague Kap. Rudy Francisco Cup at the Marikina Sports Center last Tuesday.

Former PBA Best Import Jamelle Cornley atoned for his miscues in regulation, scoring 15 points in extension, including the last nine that secured the victory for Hobe Bihon.

 Cornley earlier flubbed a charity with 15 seconds left in regulation and missed a desperation triple at the buzzer, enabling Skyforce to force overtime at 77.

Cornley finished with 36 points and 13 rebounds and clinched the MVP honors while Jeff Viernes backed him up with 13 points.

Ronjay Enrile paced Skyforce with 21 points while Marlou Aquino and Mac Montilla added 14 points each.

“We’d like to thank all those who supported the DELeague Kap. Rudy Francisco Cup and we promised more exciting action next year,” said Marikina Mayor Del De Guzman.
