Abesamis, pals win overall net at Sherwood

MANILA, Philippines - The trio of Edgardo Abesamis, Edward Puno, and George Cabarrus pooled in 54 points while the group of lawyer Harry Paltongan, Abe Avena and Joel Escala collected a 59 to win the overall net and gross titles, respectively, in the third Sherwood Cup recently.

They were among the close to 200 participants, including club president Paltongan, in the event sponsored by Golforce Inc. and Megafiber who also witnessed the soft opening of the four holes of Sherwood Hills’ second course.

Daniel Daez, businessman Mike Mapua and Rhoniel Cousart captured the Group I crown after combining for 59 points in the one-day golfest sponsored by Agrexplore, Mighty Corp., MCS Const., Compact Graphics, Utopia and Northern 8 Advertising.

In Group II, the ladies triumvirate of Lily Chan, Therese Dabao and former Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines president Rio Co triumphed with 56.

Supported by media partners The Philippine STAR and Impact, the Group III plum went to Rey de Vera, Dan Servano and Rex Macogut with their 62.
