Founders Cup lures huge field

MANILA, Philippines - Eight hundred players are seeing action in the 17th Founders Cup Invitational, the member-guest tournament of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite offering almost P5 million worth of prizes on Nov. 21-24.

A 2013 Mercedes-Benz C180 Classic is up for grabs for a hole in one on all par-3s of the Player course while a 2013 Mazda CX-5 is at stake on all par-3s of the Palmer course.

The 17th Founders Cup, which has Globe Telecom, Banco de Oro-CLG/VISA, Mizuno, Sta. Lucia Realty, Kulinarya Global Corp., CATS Motors/Mercedes-Benz and Mazda as major sponsors, caps the season’s member-guest tournaments with the most number of participants.

Orchard general manager Rene Garrovillo, meanwhile, announced that the Club will participate in the global response to the victims of typhoon Yolanda by donating a substantial part of the tournament proceeds to the Philippine Red Cross.

Premium hole sponsors are Asiana Airlines, Regent Travel Corp., Security Bank Corp., Shakey’s Pizza, U-Freight Phils. and The Turf Co.

On top of the premium cars, Regent Travel is also throwing away an all-expense-paid golfing holiday for two in Mission Hills Resort Dongguan for a hole in one in either course which will be raffled off during the awarding ceremonies on Sunday if not won.

Asiana Airlines will likewise give away two economy tickets to any destination in the US West Coast, New York City or London as a major raffle prize for the tournament.
