MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Sports Commission will take 22 young athletes from Leyte under its care in Manila in the wake of the massive destruction caused of Typhoon Yolanda.

PSC executive director Guillermo Iroy Jr. said the PSC had dispatched a five-man team to Tacloban to gather the youngsters belonging to the Leyte Sports Academy and bring them to Manila.

“The PSC will be adopting the 22 orphaned athletes in Leyte upon the instruction of chairman Richie Garcia and commissioner Jolly Gomez,” Iroy told The STAR.
