SCUAA-NCR raises funds for super typhoon victims

MANILA, Philippines - The 26th State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA)-National Capital Region Games for 2013 dubbed as “SCUAA NCR For a Cause” kicks off Nov.  26 at the Quirino Grandstand, Luneta, Manila at 3 p.m.

Invited as guest of honor is Sen. Pia Cayetano.

Some events of the athletic meet shall be dedicated to help victims of super typhoon Yolanda and the killer earthquake that hit the province of Bohol.

Projects being hatched to help raise funds for the typhoon and earthquake victims are “SCUAA NCR Run for a Cause” on Dec. 15 and “Search for a Cause” with the Search for Mr and Ms SCUAA on Dec 2.

“The strong fighting spirit is evident to every Filipino so we dedicate the games to the typhoon victims,” said Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) president Dr. Bernard Ramirez, also the chairman/executive board of 26th SCUAA-NCR, who also urged different college presidents who are members of the 26th SCUAA-NCR executive board to collaborate and organize a fund-generating program for the typhoon and earthquake victims.

This year’s slogan is “Moving Ahead Towards Sports Excellence”,  with the games for 22 sports events slated Dec. 2- 6, according to PhilSCA asst. prof. Gigi Manaog, chairman of the board of sports management of the SCUAA-NCR.

Aside from PhilSCA, other participating colleges and universities are Rizal Technological U (RTU), Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (Earist), Technological University of the Philippines (TUP), Philippine Normal College (PNC) and Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC).
