La Salle-1 cops team, individual jungolf titles

MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle University I copped the team championship after it outlasted rival Ateneo de Manila I even as Eric Gallardo made it a double celebration for the Green Archers when he ran away with the individual crown of the third ICTSI Inter School golf tournament held at the majestic Ayala Greenfields in Laguna.

DLSU I amassed 620 Molave points counting their best four games of 152, 154, 162 and 152.  AdMU I came in a far second with 596 (143-151-156-146) while College of Saint Benilde I settled for third with 523 (138-115-141-129).

The second squad of La Salle placed fourth with 488 (126-126-100-136) followed by AdMU II’s 408 (108-107-115-78) and CSB II’s 334 (107-61-92-74).

Gallardo (DLSU 1) collected 218 points and way 15 up on Alan Bumagat (DLSU 1) and Jama Reyes (ADMU1) who both ended on 203.  However, Bumagat was awarded the runner-up trophy as he had a better final 18 holes over Reyes, 48-47.

In the fourth leg of the Girls 3 division over at Club Intramuros Sophia Blanco of OB Montessori Greenhills is leading the way with 203 after a 48.  De La Salle Zobel’s Jona Magcalayo (36) and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas (55) were tied with 163.

The final round of the Girls 3 will be played today also at Capitol Hills.

The tournament was organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines with the major sponsorship of the International Container Terminal Services Inc. and was supported by Pancake House, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Teriyaki Boy, Yellow Cab, Golf Depot, McDonald’s and the Philippine Golf Foundation.
