PNP chief to grace gun show opening
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police Chief Director General Alan Purisima will lead the roster of guests gracing the opener of the 21st Defense and Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) Part 2 starting at 9 a.m. on Thursday at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
With the support of the PNP, the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD) will establish a “one-stop-shop†for the processing of Permit to Carry Firearms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) during the five-day event.
According to AFAD president Jethro Dionisio, the one-stop-shop for PTCFOR will process neuro-psychiatric exam to be administered by PNP Health Services, Directorate for Investigation (DI) clearance, drug test by the PNP Crime Laboratory, gun safety seminar (lecture part) by the PNP Civil Security Group (CSG) and PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance.
The establishment of the one stop-shop was made possible through the cooperation of the AFAD leadership and Purisima, a key figure in the promotion of responsible gun ownership in the country.
As part of the gun show’s tradition, the DSAS will also give free seminars on “Gun Safety & Responsible Ownership†by Eustacio “Jun†Sinco, an FEO-accredited instructor, and “Filipino Gun Owners’ Forum: Purpose of your Firearms and the Responsibilities Behind Owning One†by MP Concepts.
To be held alongside the 2013 Manila Auto Salon (Nov. 14-17), the country’s largest automotive aftermarket fair, the gun show will also offer big discounts on selected firearms and shooting paraphernalia.
