DLS-G completes 1-2-3 finish in interschool jungolf

MANILA, Philippines - Veteran internationalist AR Ramos, Raymart Tolentino and Luigi Guerrero completed a 1-2-3 finish in individual play as La Salle Greenhills romped off with the team title in the Midgets 1 division of the 2013 ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School golf championships.

Ramos matched par 72 for 54 points at the Valley Golf and Country Club’s Executive course for a best of four out of five rounds of 203 to win the individual plum by nine points over Tolentino, who had a 52-194. Guerrero posted a 48 for 193 in the competition among boys high school players. Miggy Yee, the fourth player of the team, still had a chance but did not show up, leaving his fellow Greenies to slug it out although he still managed to place fourth at 189.

La Salle Greenhills finished with 579 team total, beating La Salle Greenhills 2 (494) and third placer Ateneo de Manila 1 (477) in the juniors category of the multi-division event organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines, which enjoys the major backing of International Terminal Services, Inc. It is also sponsored by Pancake House, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Yellow Cab, Golf Depot, McDonald’s and the Philippine Golf Foundation,

Xavier 2 placed fourth at (414), followed by Xavier 1 (400), De La Salle Zobel (386), Ateneo 2 (302), Xavier 3 (294), Brent (290), LSGH 3 (251) and Ateneo 3 (156).

Ateneo, meanwhile, continued its march to the Midgets 1 diadem after another solid game by Adric Chan in Round 4 at the tricky Aguinaldo Golf Club.

Chan fired 50 points while teammates Marc Corrales and Carl Corpus had 42 each for 134 and a 580 total with Learning Links in second at 531 after a 121. Third was La Salle-Zobel at 442, LSGH fourth at 430 and then Ateneo 3 and Xavier 1 at 408 and 406, respectively.

Chan, however, trails Ira Alido of Elizabeth Seton by three (155-152) in their tight race for the individual plum going into the final round.
